Recently, I had the opportunity to take a bus tour of some interesting recycling facilities: a Utah Valley recycling center, the valley dump, and the Mandalay Bay’s recycling operation.
Our buzz word for the day was not recycle, but repurpose; finding other uses for items we might typically discard. Things like jars can be repurposed for things like food or craft storage, even décor; upcycled décor is very in at the moment. If you’re just beginning to recycle at home, you’ll be amazed at how fast your recycled trash cans fill up – faster than your regular trash can! I’ve found that the easiest way to recycle is to keep a bin in your kitchen specifically for recyclable trash. Keep in mind, Styrofoam cannot be recycled.
